Decoded: The Top 5 Headphones To Buy Online In 2022
Best Overall
Many have loved the Sony Mark 4 headphones, but we know it's the real deal when MKBHD also agrees. The headphones easily fold and come with a case for you to easily travel with them anywhere you go. Active noise cancellation (ANC) is supposed to be really nice on these as well, you can only hear noise that's really close to you. Apart from this, there's an ambience sound control which lets you listen to your surrounding sounds. There's a touch control system so you just tap on the headphones to pause, play or skip, multiple device pairing (up to two devices) for a seamless device shifting experience, wearing detection so music can automatically pause when you take them off, built-in Alexa — all of that paired with 30-hour battery life, this one is a sure shot win!
Best Budget
The boAt Rockerz bluetooth headphones offer up to 20 hours of playback and feature soft cushion cups for your ears and also on the adjustable headband. The interesting part is that you can easily convert them to wired headphones with a 3.5mm connector that comes with the headset and preserve battery whenever possible. While this pair doesn’t offer active noise cancellation, it's designed in such a way that the ear cups cover your ears fully, providing physical noise isolation — which isn’t as effective if you're in super noisy places but does a decent job for everyday use. The sound quality isn’t over the top but again, does a good enough job for people who're just looking for a good pair of Bluetooth headphones for everyday use.
Best For Gaming
These wired headphones are said to have the right amount of bass, treble and loudness for games as well as normal usage (music and movies). They're comfortable to wear and what we liked about them was the retractable mic, that's flexible and can be bent and adjusted according to your need. There's a volume control unit and a USB connector for the lights on the headphones as well. Overall, a good buy for gamers!
Best Noise Cancelling
The QC45 is the latest release by Bose and what we noticed right away was that they weigh only 238g, so they're pretty lightweight compared to others on the market. Of course, their noise cancellation is great, you can even experience that for yourself on their website by toggling the quiet and aware mode. Pretty easy to carry, they fold and lay flat in the protective case that comes with the headphones, something that the Bose 700 (loved and hated by many) can not do. They have 24-hour battery life and just a quick 15-minute charge will give you up to three hours of listening time. They also have an adjustable EQ, which means you can adjust the bass, mid-range and treble levels according to you.
Best Sound Quality
Quite expensive but if it's the sound quality you're looking for, the Apple Airpods Max does a great job. We can't deny that Apple never fails it's users for a luxe experience, these headphones are made from metal and have a super cool design, the noise cancellation is great on this and every review we've read and seen just screams about how incredible the sound quality is. These are especially great if you're in the Apple ecosystem. So, if you own a MacBook, iPhone and iPad then the Airpods Max will be a no-effort addition to that team, with a seamless device switching experience. Not to forget, they are very comfortable to wear. However, there are some cons — even though they come with a case, it doesn’t really provide full protection to the headphones, it's not water-resistant or sweat resistant (we want to be able to wear them everywhere, especially at this price point) and might get uncomfortable after a while for a few people because of it's weight. If the purpose you're buying these is for working out or traveling, we suggest you consider other options.
