Have you ever seen those sitcoms, set in NYC, the actors aren’t eating hot dogs anymore, they’re eating Mediterranean food, even Ross was mistaken for someone who had a falafel cart, remember? I’m talking a step up from a falafel cart and a culinary trip into a full-blown Med menu prepared by world class chefs in super sanitary kitchens with quality ingredients and it’s all up for delivery right here in Delhi/NCR. You heard me right! It’s time to welcome, a halal cart concept straight from the streets of NYC and now stationed in the capital, spread across 3 state of the art kitchens, it’s time to indulge in street style Med food which in my opinion was way more gourmet than I expected.

One of the first kitchens to introduce the concept of an Ashet, it turned out to be one of my most favourite dishes on the menu. An Ashet is essentially a large, shallow, oval dish, at Chickeera, they load it up with rice, pita, meats like chicken and lamb or vegetarian falafel, leafy greens cheese, all topped off with a signature sauce, depending on which Ashet you choose. I recommend the Lamb Gyros Ashet, the lamb is seasoned like the filling of a Greek gyro, soft and juicy, mixed with all the other elements, it makes for a spectacular meal. This is family style eating at its best but you’re looking at a more individual experience, where it’s just you and a favourite book or movie, then try the excellent selection of pitawich (pita sandwich) and burritos. Fillings like BBQ Chicken and Shroom & Falafel give you so many options, then you could enjoy a different sandwich every day of the week. The burritos are fully loaded as they should be, I loved the Chicken & Lamb gyro OG Burrito, messy and wonderful. All the dishes come in combos as well, just in case it’s family game night or a movie binge at home, there are as many choices for vegetarians as there are for meat eaters, which makes the menu super convenient for a group with different tastes.

To add to the party, there are side dishes that are also excellent starters, Chicken Meatballs that you can have in BBQ sauce or hot spicy Peri Peri. I loved the chicken wings, super-sized and perfectly cooked, tossed in buffalo sauce, for vegetarians there are frites and falafel, mozzarella onion rings which go really well with a tub of creamy hummus. That’s not all, since no meal is complete without dessert, don’t forget to add Deeep Fried Snickers and Toffee Cheesecake to the mix, they’re unforgettable just like a meal from Chickeera.
