Blue Mountains, Misty Mornings And A Cup Of Steaming Chai At Tea Nest, Conoor

Shortcut

A cottage nestled in the midst of tea plantations, it’s a slice of Britain from the 1800s over at Tea Nest in Conoor.

Rolling In The Hills

Not that you need a reason to head to the Nilgiris, but here’s one anyway! It’s called Tea Nest, and you really should make it your nest when you’re in Coonoor. With manicured lawns, rose gardens, a stone structure and a charming sloped roof, you’re almost in the English Midlands. Quite like entering the Great Hall of the Harry Potter series, this one, too, has high sloped ceilings with, of course, a fire place to add warmth and character to the whole setting. Don’t get too comfy in the Lazy Boys in the sitting room, though, because Jasmine, Chamomile, Silver Tips, Golden Tips, Lemon, Rosemary, Basil and Green await you. And no, smarty pants, those aren’t types of teas, but rooms!

Over The Centuries

Around since the 1800s and set across 1,800 odd acres of tea, it’s not too hard to make the room a cosy place. Think wooden furniture, mood lighting, fluffed up pillows and a window with frilly curtains to play hide and seek with the afternoon sun. Lone rangers can even opt for the Annex with two rooms—Rosemary and Basil. We love it, especially for the privacy. Not for ourselves, as much, but if you’re a large {read: boisterous} group, you can at least leave the other guests in peace!

All Hands On Deck

Once that image is in your mind, aim higher. And that is what our favourite place in this entire property is; the deck. Misty mornings, flirty sun rays and a cup of steaming tea {you’d dare to have coffee?} will make you never want to leave. After all, very few things come close to a view with rolling tea plantations, blue mountains and flowers dotting the picture. Oh and the occasional Indian gaur roaming into the property; gleefully grazing.
