Indian textiles have a kind of allure, intricacy, and craftsmanship that for us takes precedence over everything else, and one person who has truly embraced this is Richa Maheshwari, founder of Boito. The name Boito comes from the Odia word for 'boat,' inspired by the maritime festival Boito Bandana, a celebration of ancient voyages by mariner-merchants who transported treasures including woven textiles. It’s this rich tradition of weaving that Boito seeks to preserve and celebrate.
“In many ways, the story of Boito is a story of homecoming… my own,” says Richa. And when we got the chance to ask her what else she deeply loves, she let us in on some delightful little details that you’ll love knowing too!
