Recently I took a short trip to Gulmarg, and I have to say that it was one of the most beautiful places I have visited in my life.
The highlight of the trip was the gondola ride which is apparently the highest gondola ride in the world and goes up till 14,000 feet. Once on top, one can ski, take a ride on the sledges, or have fun playing on the snow. The view from the top is gorgeous and something that you won't forget at least in this lifetime.
Pro tip - please do bargain A LOT while renting equipment for skiing/walking around etc. when on top.
I stayed at The Khyber as it was highly recommended by friends and family. The resort pretty much met all expectations. The best part about the resort is that you can carry your own alcohol and have the hotel serve it to you anywhere in the premises - yes, you heard that right! Also, their indoor heated pool is quite the 'Instagramable spot'. It overlooks the mountains and trees and is stunning.
Note: The spa fills out fast so please book much in advance.
The other fun activity which I would highly recommend is taking an ATV tour - you can rent an ATV for up to an hour and drive all across the hills.
Though there aren't many places to dine apart from the resort, a must-try would be the coffee shop at The Highland Park. It's one of the oldest hotels in Gulmarg and is right out of a movie scene - literally, a lot of movies have been shot there in the past.
