We simply HAD to begin this list with Turn Black. Afterall, it’s India’s first all-black clothing label and it does a fabulous job of it too. The brand crafts clothing for anyone who wants to fade into black and encourages its wearers to identify with it. All their designs are form-free and have undefiable silhouettes. Their collections include everything from coords, skirts and shorts, pants, dresses, tunics, shirts, sarees and more. If you’re looking for a full-black ensemble, they’ve got scrunchies and bags too! 

Honestly, if we weren’t researching for this recommendation list, we wouldn’t have known that Chemistry has very cute loungewear and night suits. The brand has regular fast-fashion offerings, box shirts and black and blue printed shirts that we’d wear to work if we weren’t working from home. They have a black shift dress, black A-line dress, black midi dress, and…should we go on? If there’s an Indian brand that does solid-coloured fashion well, we think it’s Abhishti. Scalloped hemlines, unique button-downs, cross tie-ups, mini front knots, are all the detailing their clothing needs to stand out. It’s effortless clothing that’s designed cleverly and would make anyone look neat, for the lack of a better word. Going down several Instagram holes led us to Alter Ego, a 10-year-old fashion brand that’s proudly made and sold in India. We found it quite fitting for this list because their Instagram page too, follows a colour aesthetic - all the blues, blacks and more are showcased one after the other. We love their power jumpsuits, some tops have puffed organza sleeves (that look fab!) and fit and flare bottoms, which look so comfortable. While you will find other shades heere, their blues and blacks all look like power wear with detailing that’s unique to the brand.

The brand, like most others, offers trendier styles and staples that dominate the fast-fashion world. But if you’re looking for quality solid t-shirts and dresses with simple cuts, All About You is apt. After Uniqlo, the first brand that came to our mind for neutrals and dark hues, was H&M. Their collection is dominated with neutral solids, and we’re sure you have a wishlist of your own. From their current collection, we’re loving the Hooded Sweatshirt Dress in black, Puff Sleeved Crepe Dress, Collared Rib Dress in black or grey mark, among others.
