Brave New World

What's Happening?

Brave New World is a series of conversations with host, and sitar maestro, Purbayan Chatterjee. What's cool is that he has performed as a solo artist and as a part of the groups Shastriya Syndicate and Stringstruck. He is also a vocalist and has performed in duet with Shankar Mahadevan.

In the series, he speaks to musicians across our country to bring us quality conversations and insight into the world of classical music. One of the conversations he has had on his Facebook live session was with Bombay Jayashri Ji, a well known classical music artist and another one with Taufiq Qureshi ji, a renowned percussionist and a composer. During these conversations the guests and Purbayan Chatterjee discuss topics such as what the future of musical concerts will look like now, post a pandemic.

This time round the conversation will be with Shubha Mudgal Ji, who is a Hindustani classical singer, her preferred genres of music include Khayal and Thumri. So if you're a bit of a classical music connoisseur, or simply interested in learning more about it, then you can catch these expert conversations, for free online!

Two Things; 1.) I like to think I live life with rose coloured glasses on, but really they’re black, and I can’t see a thing. (And to be honest, that helps in unseeing the humongous sattire and mess the world is). 2.) Mostly fumbling and staggering through life as gracefully as I can, with an occasional glass of wine here and there.
