It never ceases to amaze us just how much is stuffed into the crowded aisles of Modern Bazaar. To make a swift selection from the bakery section, we suggest their Honey Oval Bread or very interesting Mushroom Loaf or Olive Oregano Loaf. If you’re going super healthy, try the 7-Grain special.

Blame it on the butter if you will, but one bite of the fresh-toasted brioche at Madison & Pike and you will be in love. Lucky for us, they bake their superb artisan loaves on order too, so you can get your fill of Ciabatta, Focaccia, Oatmeal or Flaxseed. We’re sticking with the Brioche – it’s all things good.
Although for members only, chances are you’ll know someone and can therefore, score some bread for some dough. They do freshly baked bread: All kinds, including sandwich breads, dinner rolls and baguettes
Go European classy with their French Baguette, or swing the authentic desi vibe with the Masala Cheese Bread — Bisque has all kinds to choose from. If you’re looking for the regular sliced kind, pick from their Wheatgerm, Wheat & Oats or Wholewheat varieties.
Although more known for their dessert, The Brown Box also does some incredible bread, including Oatmeal, High Fibre, Onion, Wheatgerm, Foccacia and Rye. They don’t use any refined flour, so you’re getting authentic wholewheat. They also make sourdough bread, with a starter, which is more flavourful, as opposed to bread with yeast in it. They will undertake bulk orders on request.
We love Home For Food Traditions because they make loving carbs so guilt-free – using no preservatives and preserving all the goodness of specially selected grains. Their starch innovations include Stuffed Bread {we’re looking at the Mutton, Paneer and Spinach Corn} as well as multigrain bread with optional seasonings like ajwain or chilli. We’re also impressed with the seasonal country breads that are made of either bajra, jowar, makai or rye.

Communication can be a bit of a problem at this authentic Korean bakery, especially if it’s on the phone. They have a butter, and sandwich loaf, among other Korean picks. Our recommendation is to visit Sibang to place an order and scout the premises; it’s the only way you’ll get anywhere.
Another bakery giant doing bread right. They also home deliver, but need one day’s notice, and will do a gluten-free bread on special request. PS: Order and purchase your bread in the first half of the day, that’s when it’s at its freshest.

We’ve all lounged about at Café Turtle sipping on a cuppa and feasting on a good book. Lesser-known fact: The Pantry at Cafe Turtle does fresh bread {including a Sun-dried Tomato bread, Pesto bread and a beautiful Wholewheat Chocochip bread}. Although these are available on a daily basis, we recommend placing an order beforehand.
They have over 20 varieties of bread, from the regular loaves to hot dog buns, pita bread, Cheddar and Mustard Sourdough, Cinnamon Raisin bread and baguettes. PS: While you’re shopping here, try a bite of their carrot cake.
