What Makes It Awesome

“We’re already contemplating another visit to try other delicacies on their menu.”
On a busy Saturday afternoon, we were in Delhi’s tony Khan Market. Thanks to the welcoming staff and hospitable manager at The Chatter House who accommodated us during the rush hour.
The restaurant is spread over two storeys. The red-brown brick like texture on the wall evokes a major Brooklyn eatery vibe. It is replete of light coming through the enormous oculus, inspired from the neoclassical architecture, showcasing a breathtaking view. I could sit there all day hogging their signature mini- burgers with fries & enjoying their amazing playlist. A lot of quirky posters are hung on the stairway to the top floor. The top floor also has an open air, lush and green area for smoking. The staff didn’t spare an effort in providing us an epicurean lunching experience through constant feedbacks and paying minutest attention to details.
They have a lot of fusion delicacies in their eclectic menu. We started by trying out their Blue cheese naan served with Dal Makhani. The crisp-edged naan was topped with pineapple relish, it was so unusual yet the pineapple relish jibed so well with blue cheese making this unimaginable Anglo-Indian union so indelible. The whole black lentils were slow cooked with red kidney beans, simmered in tomato based gravy with a dash of cream. The rich texture was perfectly balanced with the flavor of the tempered seeds.
Then we dug our forks and knives into Mac ‘N’ Shroom which was one of the chef’s recommended entrée. We were served with the classic Mac ‘N’ Cheese which had some sautéed mushroom then this gooey batter was coated with crumbs, deep fried & served with paprika sauce. It was golden-brown and crunchy on the exterior but it was bursting with cheese within and had me going back to get a mouthful.
At last we ordered Focaccia Pao Bhaji which consisted of a home-style bhaji served with Focaccia Bread & freshly minced Mint Sauce. A bite of the home-style bhaji takes one back to the good ol’ days of childhood.
To beat the summer heat we had Apple and Rosemary Ice Tea which rejuvenated us for rosemary is a very good source of anti-oxidants.
There was this amazing offer going on that you could play roulette by spending Rs. 150 per spin and you are assured to win one of the prizes enlisted in the list of rewards. We ended up getting 3 house special Flamed B-52 shots. It consisted of the following: Coffee Liqueur topped with Baileys Irish Cream and torched brandy poured on top of it. It was definitely something unexpected and makes for a stellar shot.
