Once, almost half a decade ago, I tried something called a 'Chai Frappe' from a place I'm not going to name here. And it was the worst thing ever. Little did I know that adding some Boba and a couple other flavours to it will be an invention that today the world cannot get enough of. This drink originated in Taiwan and has created an unparalleled fan base for itself around the world, including our very own Delhi. Of course, that can be expected when you give a nation that is hot and humid 99% of the time and also obsessed with tea something like this. It's delicious, it's fun and it's also a relief. So I'm not going to blame the gen-Z kids (said by a writer who is ALSO gen-Z, but only technically) for sashaying around everywhere with bubble tea on their Instagram and Snapchat stories, because the boring ol' milkshakes just don't cut it anymore! Here are all the cool places in Delhi serving these cool and refreshing teas, so let's begin.

Tea Bear GK

A tiny and cute bubble tea cafe in M Block Market, GK-I, Tea Bear should be your go to spot when you’re craving some authentic bubble tea. They source their teas directly from Taiwan and have high-quality tapioca black pearls, just like the original Taiwanese bubble tea. When I visited, I found their staff or ‘Bobasters’ (trained by experts in Taiwan) to be very sweet and helpful, and the manager himself told me how they source their authentic tea flavours like Taro and Cantaloupe from Taiwan. That’s not all, they even work closely with the embassy to create their menu! Talk about authenticity. Tea Bear has vegan, low-sugar options as well and a whole lot of flavours to choose from.

Got Tea Safdarjung, Humayunpur

Set up by three friends, Yu Sung, Armaan and Jo, Got Tea is a ‘Korean Bubble Tea’ place. It’s basically your OG bubble tea with a Korean twist as they use a traditional Korean sweetener called ‘Jocheong’ in all their drinks (The good news is you can customise the sweetness of your drink according to your liking). The friends who studied together in Mussoorie, wanted to set up a place that brings Korean and Indian cuisines together, since Yu Sang is Korean. Anyway, Got Tea has now become one of the the most popular bubble tea spots in the city with around four outlets, two in South Delhi and two in Gurgaon. Some of their delightful flavours include Chocolate Matcha, Blueberry Bliss, Mango Coconut among others. Just writing this has made us crave some bubble tea, so order yours ASAP!

Burma Burma

Everyone knows this already—the place that has created a devoted fan base of Burmese food in India, Burma Burma has its own tea room also. Since Burma Burma has streets lined with little tea shops that prove that Burmese love their tea (it is also proven by the fact that their food is infused with flavours of tea), Burma Burma pays homage to its inspiration. Their tea room houses over 50 fine blends, including a special Burma Burma blend. So, if you’re in the mood to really enjoy your tea someday—head over to Burma Burma—their bubble tea is the best! They have a range of interesting flavours like avocado, lotus biscoff, yuzu, matcha and more.

Nomi Tea - Original Taiwanese Bubble Tea Cafe

A new addition to the city’s bubble tea scene, Nomi Tea is like your new generation of cafes that are cute and Instagrammable, with fun neon lights that say ‘drown your troubles in bubbles.’ In addition to your milk bubble tea, these guys have a sparkling soda series in flavours like lychee and blue sky that I can’t wait to try. They also offer fruit tea, and you can pick your boba from the OG black pearls to white konjac pearls as well. They have dimsums and ramen on their menu that you can pair with your bubble tea.

My Tea Chapel - Pinsa Pizza And Waffles

Gurgaon’s prized bubble tea place in South Point Mall, My Tea Chapel is on a journey to offer ‘healthier’ Romanian pizzas and waffles to their customers. And, along with that they have a fine, eclectic tea collection from TWG Tea and the Indian estate of Makaibari in West Bengal. For their bubble tea range, they have both milk and non-dairy options and also sparkling bubble tea. And reviews are rave, so definitely worth trying! Oh, these guys also serve an interesting boba ice cream, for those like experimenting.

Green Neko - Humayunpur

Green Neko is a Boba and Poke bar that puts a lot of effort into ensuring that they serve the best ingredients and the highest quality food to their customers. It'll be interesting to find out how these Taiwanese drinks go with the Japanese-Hawaiian snacks these guys have on their menu, which has interesting dishes and snacks on its own like garlic shrimp and teriyaki tofu. Their bubble tea comes in cute glass bottles and they have both dairy and non-dairy options that come in flavours like strawberry matcha, passionfruit and peach green tea.

Boba Nation - Tea Boba Matcha - Humayunpur

Another new spot in Humayunpur (which will soon be named bubble tea town), you should go to Boba Nation if you want to go on a light and low-effort date over bubble tea and corndogs and cheeseballs (they have my attention). Boba Nation is more like a takeaway or a quick bite kind of stall that’s coloured in a popping blue making it look very eye-catching. Their menu is not very huge and diverse, they do a few things and they do them well. Some of the flavours they offer include Taro, Thai Tea and Hibiscus & Ginger.

Mr Boba Bubbles

Don’t go to this cafe in Defense Colony expecting authenticity, because they’re all for experimentation. A part of The Cheesy Story, Mr Boba Bubbles literally has everything boba—even boba milkshakes. Yes, you read that right. Visit them to try drinks like Strawberry Cheesecake Boba Bubble Shake, Mango Kulfi Bubble Shake, boba bubble cold coffees (they even have a Tiramisu Bubble Coffee), and boba teas with literally ‘Atrangi’ flavours like cinnamon and orange! For snacks, they have everything from a huge variety of fries to garlic bread, pizza and more.

Too Mikkii Tapas

This laidback garden cafe that’s a frequent hotspot for Delhiites when they’re chasing the winter sun has brought out an all new bubble tea menu. Makes sense also, since it was born with the idea of simply enjoying a cup of tea/cold coffee over fries with your friends (even if your friend is a book) as you catch up in a place that has a wholesome vibe and great food. Now they are open in many locations and have a lot of dishes on their menu but the vibe remains the same. Their ice teas come with popping pearls too and they have bubble tea smoothies also that come in interesting flavours like orange chocolate and chocolate truffle.

Bubblelicious Bubble Tea

This one’s for the Noida peeps. You don’t have to come to Delhi every time you’re craving some bubble tea, because there’s a pretty decent cafe in your neighbourhood itself. Located in the bustling sector 104, the people at Bubblelicious bubble tea cafe boast of making their own boba and having environmental sustainability at their core. They use environment-friendly chewable straws that you can devour along with your drink. They have flavours for everyone—whether you’re looking for bubble coffee or a gourmet selection of milk teas like Korean Banana Tea, or refreshing non-dairy teas like Lychee Iced Tea.

Teavaro

A crowd-favourite in the student hub—Hudson Lane and Satyaniketan, Teavaro might not be the most authentic bubble tea you will find in Delhi but it's definitely affordable, and they have a huge variety of out-of-the-box flavours and fusion teas. They have fruit teas, frosteas in fun flavours like Cookies And Creme, Taro Cloud, and much more for you to try out for yourself!

Yigyal Cafe, MKT

Majnu Ka Tilla is another area brimming with places you can relish some refreshing bubble tea in. They are certainly much cheaper than anywhere else in Delhi, because I remember when I did visit on a particularly hot day, I had some from a tiny takeaway momo stall that was serving bubble tea too for a mere 100 bucks! It wasn't the most flavourful and certainly not the best, nevertheless the heat made sure that people were crowding over that tiny stall. Yigyal Cafe is not that stall, but a cutesy cafe in the area. Even their rates are really great, and they have a cute cartoon drawing of bubble teas on their wall that makes for a great background on many people's Instagram stories. People have left rave reviews about their caramel and strawberry bubble teas so you can add it to your list!

Ama Cafe

Ama Cafe was the first ever bubble tea I tried and not going to lie, it tasted pretty damn good! Ama Cafe is one of Delhi's most iconic cafes anyway, crowds of people hog the place early in the morning, hoping to get their hands on those fluffy pancakes and spicy, cheesy fries and so much more that the cafe has to offer. Well, you must add bubble tea to that list as well!

Mega Life Bubble Tea

A relatively new place in Majnu Ka Tilla, Mega Life Bubble Tea is owned by Gambo Tenzin, who did a professional certification on a bubble milk tea course directly from Taiwan. The reviews then, saying that it is the most authentic bubble tea in Majnu Ka Tilla, are rooted in facts. The reviews say that the boba used are fresh, big and enjoyable, so go ahead and give it a try when you find yourself in Majnu Ka Tilla.
