Shortcut

Much-needed solitude and local stories told through the eyes of very hospitable homestay hosts are Innisfree, Hawalbagh’s best qualities. It’s postcard-worthy location is a win-win {it’s 15kms from Almora} and there’s amazing local food and pure mountain breeze all through the day.

You’ll Never Want To Come Back

An old bungalow that’s seen a turnaround at the hands of Julia and aunty Kiran is a place brimming with love and inspiration. We don’t know if it’s the sunrise here or the mind-blowing Latvian desserts {Julia’s from Latvia} but this place has a calming effect like few others. The fact that you’re walking up to the sight of the hills and spending hours fishing might have a big role to play, perhaps?

Room Of Your Own

We know the brooding poets. We know the hippies who love local food and river dips. We also know people who love themselves a long chat over coffee. And now, we know a place where all these types can retire to. Latvian cooking lessons can be arranged on request and you can go picnic at the river that’s ten minutes away. There’s bonfire in the evening and if by chance you’re really itching to explore more, ask for their three-day walk around the area that includes night stays at two more pahadi houses. More of a local sightsee-r? Check out a 13th century temple and spot butterflies in the vicinity.

So, We’re Saying…

Innisfree has two suites and one double room with each offering views to die for. We suggest you take the train to Kathgodam and then a cab so you don’t miss out on the three-hour long scenic drive that leads up to this gem. Read more on their Facebook page.
