Caffe Tonino is one of the most minimally, yet tastefully, done up cafes in CP and serves authentic Italian food including salads, breads, bruschetta and of course, pizza.
Caffe Tonino for a Hearty Italian Meal
Shortcut
As you enter…
The warm yellow walls and pleasant lighting will make you feel welcome. You’ll notice a lot of vintage elements: Retro posters, little flower pots, black and white photographs. It’s spacious yet cosy, since the cafe is divided into three sections. It is also very romantic- great for a first date.
The grub
Caffe Tonino strives to serve authentic Italian food and succeeds. We were treated with some lovely baked bread with tomato salsa and olive tapenade, before we began our meal on a healthy and yummy note with the fresh Quinoa Salad with Bell Peppers and Sundried Tomatoes with a Vinaigrette Dressing. The baked potato with a cheese and bell pepper stuffing and Italian herbs was a winner; full marks for the presentation too. The Spinach and Corn Bruschetta on the other hand, can be given a miss—the toppings were bland.
If like us, you feel like, any meal is incomplete without pizza, we’d recommend trying The Square or the Pizza Sandwich. However, we weren’t super happy with the crust of the Pizza Sandwich, it tasted slightly yeasty.
The star on the table was hands down the Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli in White Sauce. The sauce was piping hot and creamy with a generous sprinkle of herbs and black pepper. A must-have, for sure.
Always room for dessert?
The Blueberry Cheesecake was stellar; dense, moist and super indulgent. We were too full to try more but they’ve got quite a few dessert options- definitely getting ourselves some panna cotta next time.
For great service and ambience, fun salads and pasta done just right, bookmark Caffe Tonino.
