They could have killed me there and yet the food would have been the highlight of the evening for me. Yes, Caffe Tonino is THAT good.

How Was Your Experience?

I went to the place with my best friend, since both of us are suckers for Italian food. We decided to try Tonino with the worry of back-stabbing our usual place of worship – Big Chill. We got there for a late lunch and the place started to impress me right from the entrance door and swept me off my feet with the first bite that I took. The service was well in line with everything that the café offers. The only thing that they could do better is their range of drinks.

Lowdown On The Ambience

Located right in the centre of the city, the place is away from the chaos all round it. The Tuscan villa-themed ambience along with the tiled floors and bricked walls, and cosy little wooden chairs give you a nice Italian vibe.

Must Order

I’m in two minds between Spaghetti Bolognaise Con Pollo Polpettine {spaghetti in minced lamb gravy} and Salame Picante Pizza {pepperoni pizza}. The spaghetti portion was great and the taste was flawless. The noodles were rich in flavour and accompanied by a nice and thick minced lamb gravy and a little crisp piece of bread. The pizza couldn’t have been better. Right from the first bite to the last one, we couldn’t get enough of it. A base of thin and crisp crust under a flavoursome tomato sauce topped with cheese, olives, pepperoni, and bonus little chunks of chicken in the right amount and positions. The pizza made my day.

PS: If you’re a coffee lover, go for the Tiramisu in the dessert section. It’s a great balance of chocolate, coffee, bread and the biscuit.

#LBBTip

It is located right in the heart of the city, so it’s easy to get here, regardless of your choice of transportation. Go late in the evening if you want to enjoy some peace and quiet.
