Few things come close to being as unfortunate as not being able to enjoy those French Fries we so loved. Happy Meals will soon be a cherished memory and left to ourselves, we could write an ode to our favourite fast food chain. But life must go on… More bun puns need to be sought and more worthy alternatives need to be found.

So, we’ve done the eating for you. Here’s our go-to list for every other burger {that can probably never erase the memory of an Alloo Tikki or a Filet-O-Fish} that comes a close second in these times of distress.

High On Burgers

This small joint has been the answer to LBB office’s untimely {mostly 4pm} hunger pangs. They’ve got a great variety of veg and non-veg variants and do desi burgers really well. Our picks: Double Chicken Tikki, Cheesy Chicken Burger and the good ol’ Alloo Tikki with Masala Fries.

Burger Singh

This proud to be Indian burger brand has been our trusty hangover cure. In fact, between its amazing Bihari Mutton Burger and Amristari Murgh Makhni Burger, it’s a culture-proud carnivore’s haven. Ordering for your vegetarian bae? Go for the Potato Crunch or Falafel Bomb Burger. P.S. The Dilli 6 Fries have a piece of our heart.

Bistro 37

Noidawaalahs’ swear by this tiny eatery that’s got your back on hungry but broke days. If you stay this side and haven’t eaten here, make a trip for their epic Lamb Burger or Gobbler Chicken Burger. We, however, are on a mission to try out the Sweet Chilli Of Mine burger with a doubly spicy patty followed by Cottage Jack because hey, paneer is bae. Side note: Take a friend along if your appetite isn’t your selling attribute.

Cafe Six Degree

The burger variety isn’t their strong point but it still gets a special vote for being scenic and offering midnight waffles. If you find you’re not patty-cularly finicky, their Fries with Garlic Dip go well with Juicy Veg Burger. Or, try the Mutton Patty Burger. Let us know if we should grab a place outdoors and order them on our next visit.

Burger Point

Burger Point’s got a whole lot of outlets across Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida so it’s likely you’ll find one in your vicinity. Regulars reassure us that their Chicken Burger {at INR 89} and Aloo Tikki Burger {at INR 79} can bring even the worst McDonald’s withdrawals under check.

Burger Dominion

East Delhi folks love this burger place and from what we’re told, the Dominion Meat Cheese, Chicken Nacho Stacker or the veg version of it are to die for. There’s also a Hash Burger for when you got them munchies.

Burger Hut

Both their veg and chicken burgers are equally yum and we’d suggest sticking to the basics here. One thing you can do to make a positive difference is add that cheese slice for INR 10 and your burger still won’t cost more than INR 60 – 70.

Big Yellow Door

We know students who have sought out their Indian Burger for when mummy’s too far with a vengeance. The Cheese Bomb Burger is another popular option. Now go crunch something other than those accounting numbers.

Echoes

This little cafe that employs deaf and mute staff reassures us that goodness isn’t dead in the world. Hanging here is an experience in itself and we’re sure you’ll relish the food just as much as the general vibe. Go for their Copycat Veggie or Runner Up. Remember to wash them down with milky, chocolatey shakes.

Kent's Fast Food

A lot of our college life has been spent at this Defence Colony baby. In fact, their Mutton, Chicken and Veg Chilli Burgers have been a constant through bad break-ups and healthy crushes.
