Lodhi Art District, roughly demarcated by the area between Khanna Market and Meharchand Market, has two more vibrant murals painted by Brazilian design and illustration collective, Bicicleta Sem Freio {Bicycle Without Brakes}.

    Art For Everyone

There’s no way you could have missed the murals in Lodhi Art District – 26 walls in Khan Market, Khanna Market and Meharchand Market been given a dazzling makeover by St+art India, a not-for-profit organisation that’s on a mission to make art accessible to everyone.

    Facing Walls

Their project, in collaboration with Bicicleta Sem Freio, is called Facing Walls – two walls in Lodhi Colony were simultaneously painted by Brazilian artists Renato and Douglas. A unique, outsider’s perspective of local Indian flora and fauna, both these walls are marked by the bold use of colour, cool graphics and a sense of humour.

After visiting several parks in the capital, Douglas chose to adorn his wall with some of the flowers, leaves and birds that he spotted. On the other hand, Renato’s mural heroes the Oriental Pied Hornbill bird and is a burst of neon.

    So, We’re Saying…

These murals will make your Instagram feed pop, so keep an eye out for them. Lodhi Art District is one of our favourite spots in the city – here’s to democratising art.
