What Makes It Awesome

All film buffs would agree that the sets of the movie really make a significant difference to its storytelling. There are a number of iconic locations that really define the most celebrated films of all time, and one such location is Chomu Palace, which was the location of the OG horror-comedy, Bhool Bhulaiya. Chomu Palace is a heritage resort located almost one hour away from Jaipur. If you're planning a trip, then here's a complete history, background, and other information that you need to know.

Chomu Palace’s foundations were laid in the 16th century by Raja Gopal Ji, strategically built to house the armies and chiefs with a thick wall to protect against invaders and enemies. The place is designed in Vatushastra philosophy (based on harmonising and balancing the flow within living spaces) and has seen many architectural developments through the years as it transitioned into a palace and then to the present-day heritage resort. This 300-year heritage hotel is truly the perfect place to have a beautiful stay, doused with luxury and regality.

The aesthetics of the structure are derived from Mughal, Rajput, and European aesthetics. They have kept the old rustic furniture while adding every kind of modern amenities to the space, so the old royal Rajput essence still pervades. Their stays attempt to give an original windowpane to elegance, reality, tradition, luxury, and majestic grandeur and will really make you feel like you have travelled back in the era of elephants, abundance, and royalty.

The Suites

The place has a total of 70 suites, all offering old-world charm crossed with contemporary style. You will spot antique furniture, marble flooring, and spacious toilets for a more than comfortable stay. The suites are divided into four categories: Palace, Royal, Historic and Maharani. Each room has a different vibe and all great amenities for a relaxed stay.

For dining, they have four spaces: Sheesh Mahal, Swarn Mahal, Darbar Hall, and Rang Mahal, with a separate banquet hall area as well. The Darbar Hall is their main fine-dining restaurant, and Sheesh Mahal is their bar-lounge area with ornate glasswork, crystal lights, and intricate fresco work.

Other than that, there is a swimming pool, banquet hall, gymnasium, recreational room, and badminton court, that offers the best of hospitality and service, with the local market just a five-minute walk away.

The Bollywood Semblance

As mentioned, this place was the background of the iconic Bhool Bhulaiya movie, but it was also featured in many other movies as well. You can catch a glimpse of the place in movies like Bol Bachan and Gulaal. And unlike Avni from Bhool Bhulaiya, you get to access all floors and corridors, which will take you on a historical journey while reminding you of some of the iconic scenes and quips from the movie.
