The information in this post might be outdated

Planning a summer getaway? We suggest the beautiful mountainous treks around the valleys of India, where you can bask in the beautiful sun, feel the fresh cool air and give your quadriceps and calf muscles some much required action.

Here are six destinations you can head to if trekking is on your summer checklist.

Roopkund Trek, Garhwal

Located at an altitude of 5012m above sea level, the Roopkund Lake is famous for five hundred {and more} skeletons of humans that are found at the edge of the lake and the best time to spot them is around June and July.

The rest of the lake though is covered in a blanket of snow but this trek should be done at least once in your lifetime. To reach the lake, one can take the Lohharjung route or can start trekking from Wan, Bedni Bugyal and Bagubassa.

We suggest you only do it if you’re a professional trekker or a hiker. Even though the trek is tough, the natural beautiful landscapes make it worth it. The trek starts from Manali and takes you up to an altitude of 4227m above sea level.
