If you stay or visit Mayur Vihar market often, stop by Clay Art. Pastel-coloured planters and blue pottery vases will draw you in and inside, there are racks and racks of #kitchengoals. Pick up blue pottery plates, neon bowls, dinner sets, hand-painted teapots and more in every hue and shape possible.
We find ourselves in Mayur Vihar for our regular dose of authentic South Indian coffee and murukku every few weeks. Fortunately, every other time when we’re stuck around, we’ve discovered something new. This time we walked into Clay Art, a tiny ceramics and clay pottery store in Phase 1 and before we knew, we were lugging half a dozen chai kulhads and six kalamkari design coffee mugs for INR 800. A minute extra and we’d have got a teapot too.
Going by the size of this handicrafts store, it’s surprising how much treasure it can actually hold. Pots and pans are arranged meticulously but there’s more than meets the eye. Look for corners or shelf tops to find a funky kettle or a fascinating vase. In fact, what drew us in were two duck-shaped planters that we think will look adorable sitting around in our reading area. Not much for bright colours? There are solids and earthy tones as well. Basically, if you’re not in a hurry, you’ll find the pieces you’re looking for.
