Cotton Rack is an online-only womenswear label that is bringing handwoven and handspun clothing from across India to our homes. With clothes made out of 100% cotton (the brand name does give it away) and a focus on promoting local artisans and weavers, Cotton Rack prides itself on being eco-friendly and ethical. Buying less and buying handmade is the brand's mantra.
You'll find handmade cotton dresses, tops, shrugs, dress-kurtas, shirts, and jackets on Cotton Rack's website. The colours range from natural off-white to bright red and orange, and the dyes they use are all Azo-free. Every piece of clothing in Cotton Rack's collection looks ultra-comfortable and would be a perfect addition to your summer wardrobes.
We were highly impressed by Cotton Rack's Cashmere Cotton collection. The trademarked fabric is grown in the foothills of Himalayas and is weaved by only four weavers in the country at the moment (talk about exclusivity). It has the same richness of Cashmere Wool and the collection features cowl neck dresses and tops, pleated dresses, spaghetti dresses, and even long lapel jackets. Prices start at INR 2,900.
Cotton Rack has taken its commitment to sustainability a notch above with its zero-waste collection that has been done in collaboration with Iro Iro Zero Waste. The collection currently has beautiful kimono jackets in four styles, designed and fabricated out of leftover waste. They're free size and a friend who recently got it, couldn't stop raving about it. (How do you think we discovered the brand in the first place?) Prices for the zero-waste collection start at INR 6,500.
