Supreme Court just upheld its Dec 15 order, prohibiting the sale of of alcohol around national and state highways, and confirmed that the 500-metre ‘dry zone’ includes the pubs and bars in Cyber Hub as well as Aerocity. From Apr 1, 34 establishments in Cyber Hub will either have to close or stop selling alcohol. In fact, the liquor licenses of these restaurants/bars are up for renewal but the court maintained that these would not be renewed post Mar 31.
While we like the idea of banning alcohol around highways, given the ever-increasing number of accidents due to drunk driving, this means the end of Cyber Hub as we know it.
