The charming Darang Tea Estate is a 150-year-old family run property, with 3 cosy cottages and 70 acres of pristine tea plantations.

Darang Tea Estate is an amiable, open homestay-like retreat only 45 minutes from Mcleodganj, with something for everyone. You can read and enjoy the fresh mountain air while lounging at the estate, go trekking or fishing, or explore the many historical sites dotting the Kangra Valley.

The main house has one bedroom, a dining room and an open veranda with views of the snow-capped ranges. There is also the Peccan Cottage and Middle cottage, each with two bedrooms with attached bathrooms. There is also a small library with over 500 books, a cosy fireplace to curl up by and little verandas to sit out on.

The estate itself has some forested grounds, perfect for losing yourself {hopefully not literally} in. Then there the tea gardens and little khuds dotting the property. Fruit-bearing trees, dazzling flowers, and the calls of wild birds and animals greet you as you stroll leisurely through the grounds. You can also visit the organic garden that provides tea, fruit and vegetables to Darang Tea Estate.

Just a short drive from Mcleodganj {where you can check out the Tibetan Settlement’s bazaar}, Darang Tea Estate is a great private home base set up for when you want to explore the surrounding area. Some highlights include the picturesque Dal Lake, the Baijnath Temples, the Kangra Fort and the Bhagsunath temple on the valley floor. All short distances from the estate, you can investigate these spots and come back to your peaceful sanctuary, all in a short span of time.
