Good News, North & West Delhi Folks! The Delhi Metro's Pink Line Launches This Week

The information in this post might be outdated

Later this week, DMRC will launch the operations of Delhi Metro’s Pink Line on the stretch that connects Majlis Park {North Delhi} to Durgabhai Deshmukh near South Campus. Once the Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety gives his approval {which, Delhi Metro officials say is most likely}, the line will be open to the general public.

This 20.6 km long section of the Pink Line will have 12 stations, including four inter-change stations – Azadpur {Yellow Line}, Netaji Subhash Place {Red Line}, Rajouri Garden {Blue Line} and South Campus {Orange Line}. With the launch of this stretch, travel time will be reduced for those commuting from North and West Delhi to South Delhi and the airport.

What’s even better is that once the Pink Line is fully operational, it will be the longest line that connects to all six lines {except Magenta line} of the Metro network. Commuters will also be able to avoid crowded stations like Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate. Now, isn’t that a massive relief?

We first read about it here.
