Delhi's First Korean Bingsu Cafe, Ssongchee Has Shifted To Saket

The information in this post might be outdated

We'll start at the beginning. What's bingsu? A popular Korean dessert, characterized by ice shavings, sweetened condensed milks, fruit syrups, various fruit, small pieces of tteok {rice cake}, chewy jelly bits and cereal flakes. {Recipe may differ from joint to joint.} The most popular version is made with sweetened azuki beans.

Now we'll come to this new cafe in Delhi. One look at their Facebook page, and you'll be well aware of the language barrier. Either take a Korean friend, or prep for a lot of miming as and when you decide to visit and place an order. They serve 12 variations of the super popular local dessert, including mango, strawberry, melon, chico Oreo and pineapple. Safe to say, this is the desserts pioneering foray into the capital, along with a fine selection of Dutch coffees and slow juices.

Although nondescript in its entrance, once you make it inside, it's mid-sized airy, and filled with Korean folk. Not to mention the music. That we'll leave as a surprise.
