Depot 29: Waffles and Tacos Galore

With a menu curated by Ritu Dalmia, the two-storeyed Depot 29 serves a good mix of Mexican and American food, and waffles to die for.

The ambience is fine-dine so the chairs can be a little uncomfortable {no plush sofas} and the tables a little too tiny, especially if you’re planning to order for large appetites. However, the bright side is that there’s a terrace and plenty of sunshine streaming into the indoor area; pretty ideal for a winter lunch. Plus, the first floor has a swanky bar with brick detailing.

The menu comprises a range of tacos, quesadillas, burgers, salads, grills, crepes and desserts. Whereas we found the burgers {Surf and Turf} to be pretty average, we were quite smitten by the Pulled Pork Taco and the guacamole {they’ve got a mango as well as a pomegranate variant}.

However, the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the waffles. We got the Wild Berry Compote and Mascarpone, one which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside kind of affair, where the compote wasn’t excessively sweet. They’ve also got the savoury kind.

All in all, you can enjoy a pleasant meal at Depot 29 {we’d recommend lunch} with some good wine and cocktails.
