Diva Spiced, Ritu Dalmia’s modern Asian restaurant in Meherchand Market, has released a new Express Lunch menu, and it is a winner.

What to Expect

The Express Lunch menu is a collection of some of their best dishes from the main menu, compiled in one place for easier access. Patrons can choose one appetiser and one main.

Appealing Appetisers

As it was a tasting, we {fortunately} had the opportunity to try most of the dishes. In the appetisers, we enjoyed the many mixed dim sum plates that came our way. The two standouts were the well-known, and wonderfully colourful, Root Vegetables Dim Sum {beetroot and carrot} and the soft, succulent Pork Dim Sum. However, the star of the appetisers was surprisingly the Borma’s Tomato Salad. Named after the famous Burmese chef from Goa, the salad comprised thick slices of tomato, topped with peanuts, in what can only be described as an oriental chaat flavour.

A Mouthful of Mains

In the mains, we had the delicious Sweet and Sour Papaya Curry {served with Bikaner roti and chilli pickle} and the Pan seared Chicken Breast with Cafreal sauce. The texture of the curry was just right; the juxtaposition of the sweet kick and sour aftertaste was delightful, and it went surprisingly well with the roti. The Cafreal sauce with the chicken breast was full of punchy Goan flavour and the accompanying Pearl Barley risotto was outstanding.

All in all, a day well spent, and we’ll definitely be visiting again.
