Head To This Donkey Ashram For A Kickass Day Out

An elderly couple in Gurgaon has opened a Donkey Ashram, where they recue and take in sick and injured donkeys from all over Delhi NCR.

Somewhere not very far away from civilisation, 15 kms from Gurgaon, lies a Donkey Sanctuary called the Asswin Project. Started by a UK-based couple, Jean and Bob, almost a decade ago, they rescue and take care of sick and injured donkeys from all over the city.

You’ll find numerous donkeys grazing around in their natural habitat right next to the sanctuary. The injured ones are treated inside and are not let out unless they’re completely healed. They also have some rescued dogs and horses chilling there, minding their own business, along with the donkeys.

The name Asswin comes from the word which was a name given to divine physicians who healed pain and suffering, and were ever always up to help those in pain. Talk about some awesome word play!

Looking to get away from city life for the weekend? Here’s your chance for a therapeutic getaway where you can chill with donkeys, feed and bathe them, play with the friendliest of dogs and engage in long interesting conversations with Jean and Bob. You can also adopt a donkey for life!

Besides all that, the landscape is to die for and it’s so quiet, you’ll feel awfully weird at first!
