A homestay set in a middle of peach, plum and apricot trees in Nathuakhan, Ek Chidiya is for the bird and mountain watchers.

Of Snow Peaks And Peaches

Set up by a journalist couple, Anurag Tomar and Pallavi Srivastava, Ek Chidiya is home to their two noisy, curious kids and lots of travellers who find their way uphill when the mountains beckon. This is a cottage set amidst the terraced fields of Nathuakhan, about 40 km down the road from Nanital. Pine trees welcome you to this beacon of solitude {the nearest shop is 2 kms up the mountain}, and you have all the chirping birds and snow-capped mountains to gaze at.

Of Jams And No Traffic

What we love is the personal touch that the place affords—food prepared in accordance to your choices, fresh crushed-peach drinks, a common dining area and extremely helpful staff.

Though the kids might get a little bored without TV, the idea is to come back to the wilderness of it all. The beautiful orchard-village is open to tourists, and the villagers are happy to meet and greet you and even give you samples of the products {jams and chutneys} they make.

Of Winter Sun And Summer Fruit

Taking eco-friendliness to the next level, Ek Chidiya keeps nothing plastic in their rooms. Tastefully done interiors are a bliss and each room has a sit-out area and large French windows. We recommend that you go with a large group or with family to enjoy the outdoors and bask in the warm mountain sun.
