Experimental Dance Inspired By Middle Eastern Music

What Makes It Awesome

A body begins vibrating slowly, Middle Eastern percussion is added to the mix & together, the two entities pick up pace & tempo. In this contemporary movement piece, one woman takes the stage to perform her interpretation of Maqam - a system of melodic modes used in traditional Arabic music. The gradually intensifying movements grip the viewer & one can feel the pulsating kinetic energy viscerally rippling off the performer as the piece moves forward.
