If there is one cuisine I have a 'real' craving for, it has to be Asian food. I know that's a broad term encompassing an entire continent but there's no country on that continent that doesn't have amazing food. However, if I have to be specific then I would say, a mix of Japanese and Chinese, basically, a menu that has sushi, bao and gravy or two with noodles and rice. So, when I chanced upon Sloppy Sticks on insta, I found everything I wanted on one menu. Sloppy Sticks is a pan Asian cloud kitchen with dishes inspired by Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, China and Korea. The menu had, from poke bowls, sushi, Dim sums, hot curries and fluffy Baos to an excellent selection of sides to pair these with. I was sold. This is the time for cloud kitchens, a time to get gourmet world cuisines delivered to your doorstep and the stark reminder of such times is awesome packaging and authentic food.

Since this was going to be my first order, I decided to go with all my favourites, even though the menu is absolutely huge. I started with the Chicken Katsu Roll, which was well made with crispy chicken katsu cutlet rolled into the sushi, in retrospect, I ought to have ordered the spicy salmon or spicy tuna roll, which shall be in my next order. The dumpling menu had Cantonese Lamb as well as Cream Cheese and Water Chestnut but my heart was set on the Chicken Water chestnut chilli oil dumplings because who can say no to anything with chilli oil which by the way was absolutely spot on, that one basic can make or break a dish, isn’t it? Being total suckers for Bao, there had to be at least one portion and what better than the Char Siu Pork Bao, the original in my opinion, despite the travel time, the bao was nice and fluffy with a generous filling of lightly sweet-spicy pork, this shall be repeated for sure.

For the mains, I wanted to play safe since it was my first time, so I chose the Chongqing mushroom, the Clay pot braised chicken along with Cha Han crispy spinach fried rice. The food was excellent, well portioned and delicious. I loved the crispy spinach topped over the fried rice, a great way to add texture and flavour to regular fried rice. They have a big selection of curries and gravies, so next time I’ll go with Thai curry and a Penang Curry. Given that the food was very satisfying, I would love to experiment with their Poke Bowls, especially the Spicy Tuna. Even the Meal Bowls sound like a good idea, so I can binge a movie with a meal on the side, the Prawn Kung Pao Bowl or Fish Thai Green Curry bowl sound perfect for the upcoming weather. Sloppy Sticks has managed to put together a menu that is so loaded that there is something for everyone, so if you’re having friends over or ordering for the whole family, this is the place to try
