Feast at These Upcoming Fests This Season

It’s no secret that we dilliwallas love our food, and the more the better. Thankfully, the next couple of months have a lot for us to look forward to. As the temperature goes down and appetites go up, plan a visit to these food festivals.

Food For Thought Fest

Amidst panel discussion by prominent names such as Shashi Tharoor, Bishen Singh Bedi and Karen Anand, take some time out to feed your tummy too. IHC is going to be seeing pop up stalls from renowned restaurants from Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. You can also catch some cookery demos by celebrity chefs including Chef Abhijit Saha, Alpana Habib etc.

When: 17th Oct - 18th Oct, 10am - 11pm

North East Festival

Primarily a handloom and handicraft exhibition, the North East Festival is a three-day-event showcasing artisanal creations from the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim. They're also going to have dance performances and about 25 food stalls offer the local cuisines from the various states. If you want to try your hand at cooking at home, you can check out the vegetable stalls for some jadohs and masor tengas.

When: 16th Oct– 18th Oct, 11am – 10pm

Foodistan and Toddy Fest {10 Heads Festival}

Delhi’s first monster festival, 10 Heads is going to be 10 festivals rolled into one. Chief among these are the Foodistan and Toddyfest. Foodistan will feature food curated by chef Saby, and Toddyfest is all about cocktails, wines, brews and even some molecular mixology. Read more about the 10 Heads Festival here.

Grub Fest

If you’ve ever been curious to know what goes down at the Secret Supper Club, this is where you can experience it. The Grub Fest will be seeing Delhi’s premium restaurants including Smokey’s, Indigo, Koyla Kebab, Dao and Dimcha among others.

Asian Hawkers Market

Wander through carts of sushi, dim sums, pork buns, stir fries {done right in front of you} and satiate your Pan Asian craving. The whole fest is designed to make you feel like you are in fact, in a hawker’s market. Not only will there be Chinese, Japanese, Thai and South-East Asian food, but also music, entertainment, children's areas, merchandise and performances from all these countries.

When: 23rd – 25th Oct; 12pm - 12am

Goa Festival

Fancy some prawn curry or vindaloo? Or bebinca? Head to Goa Sadan at the end of this month. They're having a special festival, led by cooks who are flying in from Goa. Whilst you feast on your favourite delicacies, Goan troupes will perform traditional dances. There will also be live bands.

When: 30th Oct - 1st Nov, 6pm - 10pm

Palate Fest

With two successful events under their belts already {Palate Fest 2014 and Palate Mini}, the Palate peeps are all set to have their third food fest this November. Expect a melange of Delhi’s best restaurants {ranging across budgets} and dessert stalls. Read more here.

National Street Food Fest

The National Street Food Fest 2014 saw a bunch of grub from various parts of the country: There were kebabs from Lucknow, litti chokha from Bihar, prawn curry from Goa, roller ice cream, and lots of chaat. This year’s going to be more or less a repeat, so if you’re looking for some hot, comfort food on a cold wintry evening, this is the place to be.

When: 11th Dec – 13th Dec, 1pm – 10pm

Delhi Live

A venture by Teamwork, Delhi Live is going to be three days of gluttony in the middle of winter. We're expecting 75 of the city's best restaurants and home bakers. Also watch out for retail stalls, music performances and adventure opportunities.
