9 Food Trucks to Drive to Right Now

Delhi and NCR seem to have a sudden influx of food trucks. Although most of them don’t really travel extensively, we’re thinking as long as the wheels of the truck go round and round and cook our favourite treats, they count.

The Lalit Food Truck Company

The Lalit Food Truck has a variety of food, mostly Mexican, for quick on-the-go eats. Try their quesadillas, or their crispy vegetarian tacos. If Mexican food isn’t quite up your alley, they also have the option of falafel and a mean vegetarian burger. You know quality is high on their list; it’s what The Lalit is known for.

Price: INR 100 onwards

#LBBTip:

The truck is flitting between WTC Building and FICCI Auditorium, Connaught Place. We suggest you call them to find out exactly where before planning a visit.

Oh Buoy

Oh Buoy is parked in Noida, and offers everything from breakfast options {we hear their pancakes are awesome}, Mexican fast food, pastas and risottos, Lebanese, continental and a giant array of drinks. They’re parked Monday through Friday, from 11am – 11pm, and from 2:30pm – 10pm on Saturdays. Like their fellow trucks, they also cater for special events. All you have to do is get in touch.

What the Truck

Big props to their name. With a menu comprising burgers, hot dogs, wraps and the occasional appearance of Indian street food, What the Truck, primarily parks in different venues across Gurgaon and Sohna Road. You can find them six days a week, between noon and 9pm. They also cater for events, birthday parties and festivals. PS: We hear their Chilli Doggy Dog is a winner.

Hawkers

Some days there’s nothing like street-side Indian Chinese food, and we suggest you turn to Hawkers. They’ve been around for as long as we can remember, providing solace on rough {and good} days. Our vote goes to their freshly prepared Chicken Chilli Garlic chow mein, and the succulent momos- both steamed and fried.

Delivery Services

Eggjactly

As close as you’ll get to an authentic food truck, Eggjactly actually starts their engine. So far only available in Gurgaon, they park at different spots on different days. As for food, perfect for a mid-day snack or a quick bite on the go- literally. PS: Their breakfast choices are unmatched.

Drifter’s Café

Trying to get out of the QSR bracket of serving only fast food, Drifters Cafe is doing many cuisines– Thai, Japanese, Malaysian, Indonesian and more. They do box meals too. We hear the succulent chicken dim sums and vegetable dim sums flavoured with water chestnut and lemon grass sell like hot cakes!

Dosa Inc.

Expect the regular South Indian offerings, including dosa, idli, vada and appam. But, their biggest sellers? The Mysore Masala Dosa {with sky-high spice levels}, and the regular masala dosa. They are also available to cater events, in case you’re trying to do your next party differently.

Sushi House Mafia

The new venture of the good folks behind Eggjactly, Sushi House Mafia serves up delicious sushi, with a twist. Try their Hot Tuna, Veggie California, or The Kick {wasabi prawns!} for a delightful Japanese mouthful, all while sitting in your car! Doesn’t get much better than that.

Street Foods by Punjab Grill

Choose from Galiyon ka Swad which includes Happy Desi Burger, Mumbai Vada Pav, Kullad Vali Chai, Masala Chaach, Gulabjamun, Pineapple pastry. Wash it all down with the signature Lemon Soda.
