What Makes It Awesome

Freakala aka Shivanika is an artist and a certified expressive art and movement-based therapist. She does a bunch of fun workshops at least twice a month (mostly at the Gypsy Cafe in Hauz Khas) and can also upcycle your bags, jackets and cushion covers to something boho and super cool.

Shivanika started her venture, Freakala, almost three years ago and since then, she has been painting walls at cafes, schools and hospitals, conducting workshops and even customising tees and shoes for three Converse stores across Delhi.

Full-time, she's a special educator at a school but part-time, she's teaching people how to make stunning suncatchers (colourful glass piece that reflect light) and dreamcatchers. She was even selected for the 2017 Magnetic Fields' dreamcatcher-making workshop (just so you know you're in good hands). Oh, she also does jewellery-making workshops.

Being the stalkers that we are, we discovered through her Facebook page that she also upcycles denim jackets and bags. Later, Shivanika informed us that she upcycles mostly for friends, but wouldn't mind doing it for other people too.

Bags, jeans, cushion covers or jackets—Freakala can turn your boring old pieces into something really fun. All you need to do? Ping her on Facebook.

Note: The prices can vary as these pieces are super customised.

What Could Be Better

We wish her art workshops would happen more often.
