Gender Mela: Masculinities, the Environment and Street Food

The information in this post might be outdated

What is it?

A three-day Gender Mela is being organised by CHSJ, MenEngage Delhi, WDC Miranda House, Delhi University, the One Billion Rising Campaign, several other colleges, and civil groups. This will bring together students, academics, activists and practitioners from a broad range of disciplines, working on issues of gender, environment and masculinities.

We’re looking forward to the academic sessions and formal discussions, as well as some of the fun street food and activities they have lined up. The latter will constitute nukkad naataks, debates, film screenings, cultural performances and musical evenings.

Who is it for?

The mela is a unique opportunity for CSOs, colleges, students, artists and performers to share insights and jointly develop plans of actions around the issue of gender justice.

Why should I go for it?

To understand and learn about the efforts made by various networks, individuals and organisations around gender justice, or to develop lasting links with existing initiatives on gender and social justice.

The mela hopes to involve more students, get people excited about social issues and also have some fantastic performances. The street food stalls also promise to be a treat.

Anything else?

There will be performances by Goonj and Dhruv Visvanath, posters by graphic designer Madhav Agarwal, and more. And fun, interactive games, food, and hand-made products!
