This play has been showcased about 400 times from the time it was first screened (1997), and it has been successful ever since! Not to mention that the play is by Pierrot's Troupe (one of the most acclaimed international theater groups).
Ghalib in New Delhi is a play about Ghalib seeing the world as it is now, in the 21st century (if he were to time travel into the present), and seeing how bizarre everything has become. The only way people recognise him in today's vain world, is through Jagjit Singh's voice and Naseeruddin Shah's representation of him onscreen. Basically, it's a satirical and comic take on Ghalib's continuous identity crisis in our time period.
