Shortcut

Redefining Indian fine-dining in a setting that is superbly classy, Kheer at Roseate House is upping the desi game.

Understated Splendour

The first thing that strikes you as you walk into the expansive space that is Kheer is the rather opulent aesthetic that borders deliciously on the regal and grand. Understated lighting, brocade upholstery, carved tables and dramatic bells are some of the motifs that vie for your attention as you wait to place your order. The space plays many roles, including a chaat bar with a conveyor belt, a fancy restaurant, a centre stage drinks bar, and a very hip lounge.

Desi Flourishes

Indian food with a clever twist is the general cuisine mantra here, and it works to beautiful effect. The small plates feature such inspired interpretations like a guchi or the morel mushroom stuffed with grated khoya and cheese, a ‘pizza’ naan, which is full of fiery kicks, and a rather intriguing shockingly purple Chukunder Chilgoze ki Tikki.

Meat-eaters will love the Charcoal Murg Malai Tikka – succulent pieces of poultry ensconced in an edible charcoal coating that are very tender and pair perfectly with the smoky red pepper sauce accompanying it.

The mains feature the usual suspects – there are biryanis, creamy dals and silken curries to choose from. The rotis deserve a special mention, the bread basket features a fine Bakarkhani, a mildly sweet Sheermal and a crisp Taftan – all prepared in-house.

The Proof Of The Pudding

Of course, the name on the wall preps us for great expectations when it comes to dessert, and we are suitably impressed. The Kheer Trio Platter is perfect for sharing and features a gur {jaggery} sago and lauki version of the classic milk pudding. There are also creamy kulfis – a coconut one and a very refreshing fruity one for greedier saccharine lovers.

So, We're Saying...

Kheer presents classic Indian fare with easy, effortless swag, in a setting that is quite jaw-dropping. Go, indulge!
