What Makes It Awesome

I remember when I heard about Bacon Kachoris, my first reaction was who are these genius people? They turned out to be the same duo behind the iconic Rustom's, Delhi's only authentic Parsi Bhonu. Bhawan became our go-to delivery place for some of India's finest and rarest street foods that you would never find in Delhi. From the usual chaat and samosa to corn bhel and vada pao with the addition of surprises like a bacon kachori and varqi lukhmi, crisp puff pastry patties filled with spicy chicken mince. Then came the best news ever, they were finally opening a dine-in and that too at the tony hub of 32nd Avenue at good 'ol G Town. We were thrilled to welcome them for the simple fact that new Gurgaon does not have any good places for street food. The whole vibe here is a mood, a mood paused in the 60s and 70s and it's everything. From old school box TVs playing the songs of heartthrobs of yore to ornate enamel jugs to village scene motifs across the walls. The table mats are pattals, the food is wholesome and the menu reads like a street food tour of India.

We went for chaat and stayed for way more. I suggest you start with gol gappas, considering they have a choice of three fillings and three waters and you can choose any two for your plate and change up the game. We loved the ragda pattice, the jhal muri, the patta chaat and the dahi batata puri the most but we plan to go back for the raw mango bhel and tamatar ki chaat. That's just the beginning, they have a rasgulla chaat that's a Bhawan original, they squeeze out house-made rasgullas and top the halves with whipped yoghurt, sonth and green chutney and it's both weird and wonderful. For the next course, I certainly hope you enjoy meat, the egg appam benedict is the next level especially if you add Goan chorizo to the mix. Don't miss the Apollo fish fry, Andhra style, super hot and very well done. We're also big fans of the Mutton Dahi Bada but there is a vegetarian on our table at most times, so we had the luck of trying a few veggie dishes too and they did not disappoint. The wild mushroom galouti and the kadhai paneer tikka are definitely worth going back for and that's not even the main course. Among the mains, our recommendation would include bedmi aloo puri along with Rustom's keema pao and the Bhawan mutton curry, add paneer bhatura to that and thank me later. This is not a one-time visit kind of place, this is the kind of place you will plan your next meal while. Don't leave without dessert, especially the bhappa doi cheesecake and tiramisu ras malai.

They also have a lovely mithai shop in the restaurant, I would call it contemporary but not in the overtly trendy way where the essence of the real flavour of that mithai is lost. If you're packing a box then pack some farsaan too, it's made fresh twice a day and of course, the bacon kachori goes without saying.
