I recently visited The Lake Palace for the weekend and the only word that comes to my mind is luxury. The property is built right in the middle of Lake Pichola overlooking the City Palace. Being an island property, it is known for its beautiful view. This palace in olden times was the summer residence of the king and his family which later on was leased to the Taj group. The current king lives right across this property in the City Palace.
I liked everything, from the food to the rooms, the spa, and all the services, things were just flawless. The staff, in particular, is undoubtedly one of the best that I have come across.
Talking about food, you must try the Indian and Mewari cuisine at The Neel Kamal restaurant. The Warqi parantha and the Gatta curry tops the list. The only other restaurant at the hotel is the multi-cuisine restaurant called Jharoka. It has the perfect lake view and we enjoyed our daily breakfast there. For breakfast, they serve a widespread buffet that has something for every palate.
On our first day, we took the royal heritage walk of the property. This includes walking around the entire property with a hotel representative narrating the entire history of the Palace and the Mewar kings. The walk ended at the Palace bar where champagne was served to all of us. The hotel also organised a boat ride for us that takes you around the lake with a small pit stop at Jagmandir {we heard that a lot of celeb weddings have been organised here}.
Other than these gorgeous attractions, you should definitely check out Jiva spa at the hotel. They have a range of massages and facials to pick from based on your requirement/skin type. The highlight of the spa is their jacuzzi. It's lake facing with a direct view of the City Palace, which makes the whole experience even better.
Oh, and don't worry, reaching here isn't difficult. You can take the direct flight from Delhi, the property is just an hour away from the airport. Then get a taxi that'll drop you at the jetty from where its {Taj"s} private boats will take you to the Palace that'll take about five minutes.
