Recently, the Delhi Government has allocated INR 100 crore towards the development of free WiFi facilities across the city. In the first phase of this project, 1,000 hot spots will be created across Delhi.
This project was initially taken up by the IT Department, but has been handed over to the PWD Department in an attempt to speed up the process. Originally, the project was supposed to be launched in March 2018. While a timeline has not yet been set for the completion of this project, INR 25 crore has been proposed as the requirement for the first phase.
We also hear that the AAP government has already started working on three to four models to make Delhi a free WiFi city. Here’s hoping that this attempt of the Delhi government soon becomes a reality.
We first read about it here.
