Need A Reason To Go To JLF? Check Out This Year's Epic Panel & Event Line-up!

Jaipur Literature Festival, due to the sheer grandeur of it, can come off as a little overwhelming. There are lots of events and talks, across six venues within Diggi Palace, and it’s always better to dive into it with a plan of action in mind.

The line-up of events is spectacular every year, and it wouldn’t disappoint this year too. Here are all the events and shows we we're looking forward to at JLF 2019.

Day 1 (Thursday, 24 January):

1. Because We Are: A Portrait Of My Father: Gulzar and Meghna Gulzar will be in conversation with Shantanu Ray Chaudhuri at 12:30 PM in the Front Lawn.

2. Jallianwala Bagh: Kim Wagner, who is a professor of history of colonial India and the British empire at the University of London, will be in conversation with author, columnist, and diplomat, Navtej Sarna, Ambassador of India to the United States, and former High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom. The talk will be held in the Baithak, at 2:30 PM.

3. #Tharoorisms: Author and politician, Shashi Tharoor will be in conversation with columnist and author Mannu Pillai. One can only wonder what comes out as a result of a candid conversation between two award-winning and best-selling authors. The talk will take place at 5:15 PM in the Front Lawn.

Day 2 (Friday, 25 January)

1. Empress: Nur Jehan and the Women of the Mughal Empire: Feminist historians, Ira Mukhoty and Ruby Lal will be discussing the roles of powerful women in history. The discussion will take place at 10:00 AM at Baithak.

2. Translations: An Equal Music: Arunava Sinha, Daniel Hahn, Manjushree Thapa, and Pushpesh Pant will be in conversation with Anupama Raju. The talk will be held at Baithak at 2:30 PM.

3. The Craft of Fiction: Shortlisted authors for the JCB Prize for Literature -  Amitabha Bagchi, Anuradha Roy, and Shubhangi Swarup will be in conversation with Prayaag Akbar. The discussion will take place at 5:15 PM in Charbagh.

Day 3 (Saturday, 26 January)

1. Why I’m No Longer Talking To White People About Race: Anita Heiss, Frankie Edozien, Hari Kunzru, Kayo Chingonyi, and Reni Eddo Lodge in conversation with David Olusoga at 10:00 AM in the Front Lawn.

2. Heads You Win: The world famous and bestselling author Jeffrey Archer will be in conversation with journalist and author Barkha Dutt. This talk will be held in the Front Lawn at 2:30 PM.

3. Call Me By Your Name: Best-selling author Andre Aciman will be in conversation with Anindita Ghose. The conversation will take place at 3:45 PM in the Front Lawn.

Day 4 (Sunday, January 27)

1. Poonachi: A Story of our Times: Perumal Murugan, Kannan Sundaram and N. Kalyan Raman in conversation Anita Nair. The talk will start at 10:00 AM in the Mughal Tent.

2. All The Lives We Never Lived: JCB Prize for Literature nominee, author Anuradha Roy will be in conversation with Tishani Doshi. This talk will be held at 2:30 PM in Baithak.

Day 5 (Monday, January 28)

1. Reclaiming the Mother-tongue: Salma, Ashok Vajpeyi, Akhil Katyal, and NS Madhavan in conversation with Kanishk Tharoor at 10:00 AM in Baithak.

2. What We Talk About When We Talk About Rape: Author Sohaila Abdulali, who was one of the first people in the country to talk about rape and how the society perceives the victims, will be in conversation with Namita Bhandare. The discussion will take place at 11:15 AM in Baithak.

3. Godsong: Sita and Gita: Author Amit Majmudar will be in conversation with James Mallinson at 3:45 PM in Mughal Tent.
