We seriously hope that you have been attending all our stellar workshops with HarperCollins so far! If not, you’re never too late to join the party. This time, we’re going to have a fun session where you’ll get to learn more about how you can create and publish a children’s book.
There’s a reason we all love reading the Harry Potter series (even as adults) or a book like ‘The Cat In The Hat’, that’s loved by most kids. There’s a whole different level of creativity involved while putting together a children’s book, filled with iconic & unforgettable characters. So, if you’re someone who has been trying to write, illustrate or put together a children’s book, this workshop will help you with the finer nuances.
So, how do you kickstart the process? This session will cover topics like: what makes a memorable, engaging character in children’s fiction? What makes a character special? How do authors and illustrators work together to make a character come alive for readers? If you’re an aspiring writer or illustrator of children’s books, get ready to have all your questions answered in this session!
To help you answer all these questions, we’ve got Paro Anand who is a Sahitya Akademi, Bal Sahitya Award winner for her book, ‘Wild Child’, now published as ‘Like Smoke’, with additional content. Accompanying her, we have Priya Kuriyan who is a children’s book author and illustrator and comics maker, based in Bangalore. She has illustrated many comics and children’s books, including ‘Ammachi’s Glasses’ and ‘Princess Easy Pleasy’. The two worked together on ‘Being Gandhi’, a young adult novel. Last but definitely not the least, we have Nayantara Srinivasan who is an associate editor in the children’s division at HarperCollins. She previously taught English Language and Literature at a school in Singapore.
How can you not sign up for a workshop with such an incredible panel! We hope you’re as excited as we are, and urge you to please keep your questions ready to ask during the Q&A round.
