Hold on to your filters {or not}, people, your upcoming hookah plans are about to go up in smoke. The Delhi Government has ordered the Delhi Police and Municipal Corporation to immediately suspend and cancel all the restaurants’ licenses that serve hookah—an all out ban.
The government has ruled that smoking hookah is not allowed in either smoking or non-smoking areas {basically, nowhere}, according to the Cigarette and other Tobacco Products Act. Positing that people consider hookah to be a safer alternatives to cigarettes—and that not being the case—the government has cracked the whip.
While we may scream out that hookah uses ‘herbal’ products, the chemical analysis says otherwise. So, it’s time Delhi prepares to say its goodbyes to piping out that scented and flavoured smoke {there, there}.
