Do you wish to soak in the royal charm of the City of Lakes without having to burn a hole in your pockets? Don't worry, we've got you covered. Located on the north-western banks of Lake Pichola is Hotel Sarovar, a boutique hotel with magnificent lake-facing rooms and a snug rooftop lounge.
Spearheaded by a wayfarer at heart (initially as a Fauji kid and later as an officer of the Indian Army himself), Padamvir Sandu tells us how he left his corporate gig to (single-handedly) manage this excellent property on Lake Pichola. What we like most about this hotel is that it's centrally located and is almost equidistant to all the major attractions in the city (City Palace is at a walking distance, y'all). And after you're done scouting up the city for palaces and antiquities, Hotel Sarovar's rooftop lounge will be welcoming you with amber liquor bottles and the soothing lake breeze. If you happen to catch your host there, make sure you have a chat with him about his elaborate travels to Tanzania and Zambia.
The suites are spacious, decor of the classic kind (adding to the snug ambience) and there is plenty of room to enjoy your morning tea with an incredible view of the lake. The prices of the suites start at INR 1,500 (approximately). We'd definitely recommend booking the lake facing suites which are extremely economical with plush interiors.
