Suffragette, Haramkhor & More with I View World Film Festival

The information in this post might be outdated

What is it?

I View World comes to India after its massive success in New York. This week-long film festival will provide a new way of looking at human rights, gender, masculinities, and contemporary culture.

The line-up looks amazing, with the inclusion of directors like Mira Nair, Hansal Mehta, Aparna Sen, Srijit, Prakash Jha, Rosie Haber and more. If you’re interested in sensualities and desire, this could be your ticket to watching some great movies.

Who is it for?

Any movie-mad person is welcome to attend the festival. The venues pan across St. Stephen’s College, The American Centre, School of Arts and Aesthetics, The British Council and Alliance Francaise.

This is also particularly great for anyone working with human rights, or has an interest in gender and politics.

Why should I go for it?

Apart from showcasing films, the event will also be hosting conversations, panels, exhibitions and performances surrounding the themes of human rights. Get ready to learn a lot of marginality and watch some beautiful films, including Sinner in Mecca and Dheepan.

The festival will also see the likes of Sharmila Tagore, Hansal Mehta, Prakash Jha, Radhika Apte, Monica Dogra, and more.

Anything else?

The hosts are putting together a Mira Nair retrospective, for which she’ll be present. Go with questions handy!
