Top 10 Of Our Favourite Iftar Dishes To Try This Ramadan
Haleem
Most popular in Hyderabad, especially during Ramzan, Haleem is a dish that is made out of pulses, grains, nuts, spices, and meat (mutton, chicken or beef) ground up, or mashed to make a paste of sorts. It is mostly always paired with a flat bread. It tastes like a rich porridge, packed with flavour and spices. Usually it is garnished with coriander and finely chopped green chilli.
Channa Chaat
When it comes to Iftar snacks, Channa Chaat is a must have. It's easy to make, full of protein, and will keep you full for a long long time. You can use any type of channa (chickpeas), black or white, all you have to do to prep is soak them overnight and/or boil them. Mix with finely chopped onions, green chillis, tomatoes, and a healthy garnishing of lemon juice. According to us, Channa Chaat is the easiest, and one of the most likeable Iftar snacks that is also one of the most customisable ones out there.
Vegetable Pakora
Keema Samosa
The OG samosas were stuffed with meat. And are heavenly! Chicken or buff keema samosas are a huge hit during Ramzan. They're deep fried, succulent, and (arguably) better than your regular potato ones.
Mohabbat Ka Sharbat
If you've ever walked through Old Delhi for even two minutes, I bet you've heard the words Mohabbat Ka Sharbat. Basically, this is for the Rooafza lovers, a drink made with the divine rose syrup, milk, watermelon, and tonnes of ice. It's refreshing, filling, and perfect for summers.
Dahi Bhalla
Dahi bhalla, or vada, are lentil dumplings soaked in sweet curd, topped with tamarind chutney and chaat masala. It is one of the best snacks, and makes the list to the top Iftar snacks. Again, it is great for the summers and makes for a great addition to your Iftar spread.
Lucknowi Biryani
What we love the most about any Iftar spread is the inevitability of Biryani being on the table! Lucknowi biryani, being our favourites simply because of how light and aromatic it is with just the right amount of masalas with the meat being the hero more than anything else. Served with mint raita, this dish will always be a winner.
Aloo Chop
An easy-to-make Iftar snack, aloo chop is basically potato cutlets served with mint chutney and ketchup. It's super filling and makes for great Iftar food if you don't want to go overboard. Pair it with some sharbat and dry fruits and you'll be sorted!
Fruit Salad
A no-brainer, fruit salad will always have a place at an Iftar table. It's easy to make, nutritious, and a must-have, especially to get in your daily dose of fruits. The best part is that you can use what's in season and not over think it. You can also take it up a notch by adding cream!
Chicken Jalfrezi
Along with Biryani being a huge part of Iftar food, when it comes to other main dishes, Chicken Jalfrezi ranks on top! It can be made with other meats as well, is packed with flavour, easy to make, and goes with any and all types of breads.
