We have a soft corner for ventures and products that promote Indian art & crafts. So when we came across The India Craft House, a website where you can shop for goods sourced from local artists across India, we spent hours browsing through the different categories, admiring each product and have bookmarked this website for the times when we need artsy gifting options. We suggest you do the same.
Ajrak Cloth Diaries Or Gond Art Cookie Jars: This Website Has Everything Handmade & Artisanal
Shortcut
Artisanal Everything
The India Craft House offers a wide selection of men and women’s apparel, home decor and stationery items sourced directly from local artists or NGOs who work closely with them. What’s more, this website lets you ‘Shop by Craft’, so you’d find meenakari art and Kutch embroidery work products to those made using Bhopal beadwork, pattachirtra art and ajrak block printing, to name a few.
While they do have pretty scarves and accessories like the Dhokra metal anklets or the Kutch embroidered handbag, it’s the home decor and stationery section we were most impressed by. We’ve had our eyes {& heart} set up on the cat-shaped Kashmiri papier mache tea-light holder {& we don’t even like cats!}, the Ajrak cloth diaries, clipboards and paper holders. There’s a lot of other stuff too that we don’t know what we’re going to do with but still want to hoard, the miniature painting tin trunks and the decorative jewellery boxes being some of them.
Cookie monsters, we think that you might love storing all your good loot in these Gond art cookie jars and we kinda like the cute Rajasthani cloth keychains too.
So, We're Saying..
We admit that the prices might seem a bit steep for some products, so we recommend that you check out this website when you want to make your friends feel special {your non-Indian friends would love it, we think} or when you wish to invest in something nice and price-y for yourself {hint: the laptop bags}.
They deliver across India for no extra delivery charge. Shop here.
