Here’s the holy trinity of a good restaurant - fascinating food, great cocktails, amazing music and I’ve found exactly where you’ll find this – The Drunken Botanist, the newbie at Cyberhub. Add ‘huge’ to the mix and you’re likely to find a table even on a super busy night. The interiors are interesting, a cross between an Amazonian jungle and the study of a research scientist stationed there for life. There is cool antique memorabilia, antlers that hold up lights, and faux foliage that’s actually soothing to the eyes. A bar that seems a mile long and a menu that serves up both the familiar and the unique makes for a memorable meal whether you go for lunch or dinner.
We were there on a weeknight and it was packed, adding to the general upbeat vibe and even though we had a meal on our minds, we ended up having half a dozen cocktails, which by the way did not pinch the pocket. We loved the Bird Eye {the restaurant is actually fashioned like a giant greenhouse that lets you binge eat and tank up}, a cocktail made with Gin and Campari and we instantly fell in love with the way it was served and the quality of the glassware, these things matter to us folks who love cocktails. We followed it up with a Basil & Lychee Spritz to make the most of summer but it’s the Celery Gimlet and Sage Daiquiri we loved the most. After mixing all those spirits we really needed to eat, the starters were substantial but the food sounded very exotic as it turned out to be. Our starters included the Vietnamese Summer Roll which was literally summer in every bite and great for a veggie bar snack and the crispy corn tacos complemented it well. For meat lovers, don’t miss the Buffalo Wings Tree, the Kohliwada Fish, world's best Sesame Pork Belly, and the incredible Wasabi Prawns. For the main course, we suggest you blindly order the Sri Lankan Kottu roti, the lamb chops {it’s a starter but feels like a main and the theatrics it involves has the chef at your table!} and the Tingmo with gravy. They also have cold ramen, pizzas, and really good sushi which is why going a couple of times are necessary. Finish your meal with the baked cheesecake and the Mexican Tres Leches cake and you’ll be happy, stuffed and well, happy.
