It's that time of the year again when we get to experience the much awaited global literary phenomenon -- Jaipur Literature Festival, better known as JLF. Only this time round, much like most events and festivals of 2020, Jaipur Literature Festival 2021 has taken the virtual route! Great news for the most part as this opens up a world of possibilities, giving easy access and participation to literature lovers and JLF enthusiasts in India and across the globe! With physical barriers broken down, the organisers anticipate to create a much more immersive experience this year using augmented reality and the likes.
The festival that begins on 19 February and ends on 28 February has on its first list of distinguished writers, diplomats and speakers, celebrated names from various fields like Albie Sachs, Bibek Debroy, Carlo Rovelli, Daniel Simpson, John Zubrzycki, Marina Wheeler, Michael Sandel, Moin Mir, Moni, Mohsin, Navtej Sarna, Oliver Craske, Prasoon Joshi, Priya Atwal, Ramachandra Guha, Ranjit Hoskote, Sarbpreet Singh, Shashi Tharoor, Shylashri Shankar, Simon Winchester, and Stephen Brusatte.
Expect at least a 100 speakers imparting only the best knowledge on topics and subjects relevant to these times across the 5-day event. There will be book launches, spirited discussions on politics, an insight into pandemics of the past and future and much, much more! Having conducted multiple virtual sessions ever since the world went into lockdown in 2020, we're hoping for a seamless experience at home. Quieter it may be this year, but the impact, we think, will be just as resounding as our past experiences!
