There used to be a time when stand-alone, multi-storeyed stores, which would offer everything from clothes to utensils, were in vogue. In Noida, Vishal Mega Mart, Fogat, Shyam Garments and Ebony were kings. Then came the malls and most of these stores were either demolished or replaced.

One such store, which also happens to be one of the oldest shops in Noida, is Jaypee Factory Outlet. Located at the unlikeliest of locations in Sector 8, the store is generally jam-packed on weekends, especially during winters.

The wool section is awesome. From the softest and thickest varieties, to pastel shades and fluorescent colours, there are shelves upon shelves of endless varieties of wool, knitting needles and other accoutrements. You’ll also find ladies sharing knitting ideas and tips on their shopping trips.

The ladies’ section is great for shawls, stoles, cardigans, overcoats, jackets…the list is endless. For those who love wearing sarees even in winters, they have a great collection of woollen blouses and woollen leggings.

The gents section takes up the entire first floor. We highly recommend their windcheaters and Nehru jackets. You can also get great track suits for your kids from the kid’s section here. They usually last a couple of winters, provided your tyke doesn’t outgrow them!

A great shop for winter essentials, go here for flasks, casseroles and hot cases, stoles, socks, thermal wear and more. There’s ample parking space on both sides of the road. And, there’s no parking fee!

You can also get a Jaypee card, which gives you a 10% discount on all your purchases, provided there’s no sale otherwise. {This isn’t applicable on the wool though!}.

All in all, this is a much-needed break from all the branded stuff, without compromising on quality.
