Are you someone who is interested in learning about ancient Indian culture and folklore? Then this is just the right event for you. Artkhoj has collaborated with Still Space Theatre to bring a modern version of the ancient storytelling form of Kaavad Katha, to your screens. Get a virtual tour of the ancient Pink City as well. This contemporary take on the Rajasthani Folk Storytelling, Kaavad Katha Maya has been created Akhshay Gandhi, a theatre artist, who will present it on the April 11 from 7:30 PM onwards.
Earlier practiced by the travelling bards of Rajasthan, the storytelling was often accompanied by a painted wooden box with characters from the story. Akhshay Gandhi, an alumnus of Odin Teatret, Denmark and SITI Company New York is an accomplished director himself and will be performing in an attempt to bring back this culturally rich art form. The artwork on the handpainted wooden box, Kaavad, is done by a Bangalore based illustrator, Rohit Bhasi.
The event will be conducted online, links to which will be shared upon registration. The performance will be in Hindi followed by an interactive session of Q&A which will be in both, English and Hindi. There is a registration fee of INR 250 for this event.
