KaliGhat Painting Workshop: Learn Patachitra This Weekend

The information in this post might be outdated

What Is It?

If you’re looking for a fresh and unconventional creative experience in an uncharted tranquil space, this painting workshop by Ptah is where you should head this weekend. Learn KaliGhat, or Patachitra as it is otherwise known, from an artist with generations of the tradition behind him.

Sahajan Chitrakar, who hails from the Patua community of West Midnapore, is here to teach you this indigenous art form which combines beautiful narrative art, and folk singing! The traditional techniques of creating a KaliGhat painting involve the use of earth colours, the creation of patterns and motifs and the techniques of sketching and coloring.

Who Is It For?

Open for anyone above eight years. This is most fun if you go with your SO, or family, and especially if you have kids!

Why Should I Go For It?

For this, you don’t have to carry any material. Everything you learn at the six-hour workshop can be replicated at home! Plus you have a piece of art to hang on your walls. Buy tickets here.

The package includes walks around museum spaces, a Sanskriti Kendra special lunch and evening high tea.We heard rumours of folk singing too, so this may turn out to be super fun!
